Well, what a cracking match! (If you're reading this from Mars, or years from now, Liverpool rallied themselves from 3-0 down at half-time againsy AC Milan in the Champions League final, scoring 3 cracking goals in a scintillating 10 minutes of football just after half time)
I very nearly went home at half time, as I was hungry and Liverpool looked dead and buried. I was tempted to stay witht he offer of a pint (many thanks John). Boy am I glad I stayed. There were a group of Italian Milan fans sitting in front of us, who took their teams downturn in fortunes with an entertaining mixture of theatrical jestures and good humour.
I'm very pleased for Steve Gerrard. He had a poor first half, but dragged his team into the game in the second half, scoring the first goal, and winning the penalty for the third with a purposeful run into the box. Jamie Carragher wasa rock in defence once more. What a job Benetiz has done. To take a team who aren't exactly setting the domestic league alight to the Champions League final, go 3-0 down and go on and win the thing, all in his first season at the club - just extraordinary.
The whole thing was a joy to watch, the best Champions League final ever (not that that would be hard, they've all been as dull as dishwater, the final 5 minutes of the '99 final apart).
Great stuff...
