Web design

Here is a selection of the web projects I have been involved in:

Enterprising Oxford

Enterprising Oxford was established by the University of Oxford to help encourage and promote entrepreneurship, by providing an easily accessible way for students, researchers and staff to find out about and to take advantage of any local entrepreneurship events and training, and to encourage more multi-disciplinary entrepreneurial collaboration. I designed and developed the site, working closely with the client to relaise their vision of how to promote entrepreneurship in Oxford.

Blavatnik School Government, University of Oxford

The Blavatnik School of Government (BSG) is a global school pursuing a vision of better government, stronger societies and richer human opportunities across the world. Our team worked collaboratively to design and develop new responsive Drupal site for BSG that would support their commitment to excellence in leadership and public policy education through teaching, research and engagement.

The First World War Poetry Digital Archive

The First World War Poetry Digital Archive is an online repository of over 7000 items of text, images, audio, and video for teaching, learning, and research. I designed the interface and associated printed publicity material for this site, which was highly commended at the Times Higher Educational Awards 2008 in the category “Outstanding ICT Initiative”.

Oxford University Museum of Natural History

Provided a design refresh to the existing site, working within existing site set-up to provide a new, fresher look and feel.

IT Services

Finally, a chance to work on my own department's website! Designed and developed a new Drupal-based site for the department, allowing the department to showcase the projects and initiatives it is involved in, as well as the many and varied services it provides to the University.

The Oxford Research Centre in the Humanities (TORCH)

Launched in May 2013, The Oxford Research Centre in the Humanities (TORCH) stimulates and supports research activity that transcends disciplinary and institutional boundaries. TORCH provides an important opportunity for Oxford’s humanities scholars to collaborate with researchers in other colleges, disciplines, divisions and institutions, and to engage with non-academic partners and the wider public. I developed a Drupal-based site that enabled the necessary interrelation of content by themes, networks, etc.

Oxford University Botanic Garden and Harcourt Arboretum

I designed and developed (in collaboration with others) sister sites for the Botanic Garden and Harcourt Arboretum. The sites run as one Drupal site, but use Domain switching to display variant design templates. The sites also share content, as well as having content specific to the site.

A few of our favourite things

To celebrate its 150th anniversary in 2010, the Oxford University Museum of Natural History put on an exhibition of A few of our favourite things: Museum objects, places and features selected by Museum staff. I designed and produced an online version of the exhibition, preserving the aesthetic of the original.

Haybrook IT Resourcing

Haybrook are a leading regional IT recruiter. As part of their  25th anniversary celebrations, they undertook a design refresh of their website, which I worked on in conjunction with Verstantus.

Oneironaut

Oneironaut is an experiment in online comics. The idea of the site is to present the comic narrative and supporting material as an integrated whole. The comic itself can be interrogated by the reader to reveal different levels of detail. The site and Episode I constituted my project for my MA in Electronic Media. I have since produced Episode II. Episode III is currently at the scripting stage...
