So Roy Keane's giving the world the benefit of his thought, reasoned views on his team again (or not, if you're looking on the ManU website). The man's an idiot.
Apparently in the old tapes that have now come to light, he berates Van Nistelrooy for combing his hair before a MUTV interview. Apprently he should be scoring goals, not doing his hair. Now, if Van Nistelrooy was standing on the edge of the area fiddling with his rubbish schoolboy haircut while Rooney was bombing goalward with the ball, Keane might have a point, but he was preparing for an interview! Preparation is important when speaking to the media Roy, you could try reciting something, repeat after me:
"I'm conducting a television interview, It's not just me, the barman, and that old bolke at the bar."
He must be a nightmare at away game room mate.
"Why are you poncing about cleaning your teeth, watch your man, PUT A TACKLE IN!"
Not that he's doesn't have a point about the collective team effort, they're mediocre and spineless, to be sure. I'm just not sure Roy's approach is absolutely the best way to foster team cohesion.
Of course the fans all agree with him, but then that just proves he's an idiot, as anyone who's ever listened to the views offered up by fans at match will attest to. Such views are an expression's of anger, frustration or whatever else they're feeling at the time. Not reasoned arguments to be shared with the nation...
For example, a few weeks ago I was watching Swindon v. Bradford. I was sitting in the Bradford end (long story). Steve Claridge was sub for Bradford, and spent the first half warming up in front of the Bradford fans. He was steadily berated by the Bradford fans "get back to the Footie Focus sofa you (expletive deleted)" etc.
At half time Claridge came on, scored two, and by full time the Bradford fans were singing 'Stevie Stevie Claridge' Bradford had won the game and Swindon manger Andy King was out of a job. Cheers Stevie why don't you get back to the Footie Focus sofa you...
