Getting home and getting a house

2 December 2003 - 6:27pm -- Joseph

Well, here we are, back in blighty. I have to admit I was looking forward to coming home, it's amazing how quickly your perception of everyday things changes when you're away, and equally amazing how quickly you adjust back and feel like you've never been away...

No complaints though, we had a wonderful time and it's great to be back, and no, I don't mind the English weather, it's never really bothered me. I'm not much of a sun-worshipper, though I was glad to finally glad to acquire a bit of a tan in Puerto Escondido without burning myself. This was achieved with precision timimg made possible by years of trial and error, which consisted of much sunburn and peeling. I think I've finally cracked it.

So I'm back at work and everythings back to the normal routine, except that we finalised on the house buying, so there's no time to get bored. Yes, we are now proud house owners, on the property ladder and in mortgage slavery.Hev picked the keys to the house up yesterday, and we went to see it last night. I'm pleased to report that there were no nasty suprises, our vendors left the fridge that we've agreed to buy off them ,as well as leaving the house as clean as can be expected (thank you, wherever you are...). We're moving our stuff in at the weekend, with the help of both sets of parents and one or two other kind volunteers (thanks guys!).

Yes, there will be a house-warming party at some point, no I don't know when, maybe late January early February? We'll have to see, much depends, as always, on Hev's shifts.

So there we go, at some point I'm going to try and write some reflections on our trip, and tell the story of Samayac (untold here thus far because I wanted to tell my parents in person first). But that can wait for another day...
