High and Dry

19 December 2006 - 9:58am -- Joseph

Looks like the lack of water supply is going to be as temporary as we thought. Various delays in paperwork mean we may have missed the boat in our attempt to get them to come and refit the meter that they took out (which, ridiculously enough, was plan A).

We're probably going to have to wait for a new meter, which will take, y'know, as long as it takes...

Ho hum....

Fortunately, Rich and Clare sent us out solar showers when Hev's parents came. Their magical 'warm shower' properties aren't quite as effective as claimed (I call it the 'oven chip' effect - bake in the oven for 20 minutes then eat raw chips...). I think the part of the problem is that the our compound (no one has a 'garden' here, only 'compounds') goes into shadow three hours before we use the showers. I used the shower on Sunday afternoon after football and it was rather warm, but usually we don't have the time to take a shower mid-afternoon!

That aside though, the solar showers have been an absolute lifesaver. Without them we'd currently be washing out of a bucket (which is bloody difficult, by the way). So Rich and Clare, thankyouthankyouthankyou...we owe you a beer (export is nice round here)...
