All manner of private and government service providers were quaking in their boots yesterday, as it became clear that the Media's predeliction towards labelling things 'a lottery' (or even, heaven forbid, a 'postcode lottery') has turned into something of, well, a lottery.
It seems dull and obvious to point out that there is a certain variability and element of chance to most things in life. Some hack may have said.
If we give it a provocative but essentially meaningless label like 'lottery' we can make it sound like actual news. They may have then added in their defence.
Honestly, journalism these days, its just a lottery...
