Pacific Coast and the Lakes

23 November 2003 - 1:54am -- Joseph

Okay, so there was a slight change of plan, we didn't do Samayac next, we went to Monterico on the Pacific coast. As Hev says, it was cool, with Black sand and crashing waves to jump around in (without being absolutely freezing, which they would be in England. It was weird, I'm not used to rough sea being warm.) Hev tanned herself liberally in the sun, and I was careful and managed to get some sun without getting burnt, Hev's so jammy.... It was a nice place though, lots of hammocks about to lounge in.

We then returned to the City, and went on a day trip to Samayac, more about that later. We're now in Panajachel, the main town next to Lake Atitlan. The Lake is beautiful, surrounded by semi-active Volcanoes. We've been across the Lake to San Pedro and had a solar-heated hot bath, which was very relaxing.

We're returning to the City tomorrow for the last time, where we'll say our goodbyes to the Mixco Talbots, and then head off for Mexico on Monday. The family have been great, making us welcome, ferrying us around and advising us, etc. I'll be sorry to leave, but we've got to see something of Mexico (and of course, that's where we fly home from). So there we go, next stop Oaxacha!!
