Well the Christmas period is in full swing, Christmas parties, etc. I missed mine however, as I had a bad head cold last week, which gave me a splitting headache for most of the week. Oh well, I'll have to wait 'til next year to make a fool of myself....
To continue the emerging themes of babies and restaurants in Kidlington, we spent the weekend checking out restaurants and babies.
The food outlet in question was the six Bells in Kidlington (another Nanu recommendation - thanks Nanu) which does a Thai menu Monday Tuesday, and now Saturday nights. when Nanu told me about it I was some what skeptical, I must admit. I've been recommended pubs that do Thai food before, and they've all been, well, rubbish. However, i was assured that this was good, and I wasn't disappointed. We had a starter of minced pork things with a sweet chilli dip, followed by a prawn green curry and a Duck dish, both with rice. It was all really tasty, easily as good as most Thai restaurants I've been to (and we've been to few). so there you go, the first leg of the Kidlington curry census, and definite thumbs up for the Six Bells Thai menu.
and so to little people... We went to see Jo and Mark on Sunday and their baby daughter, Isobel. She is gorgeous and Mark and Jo seems to be enjoying their new role as mum and dad. Of course, being Jo and Mark, they've taken the opportunity to come up yet more daft nick-names for each other and the little'un. Maternity leave well spent guys!
But enough of babies and food. Give us music! I've been listening to BBC 6 music, or whatever it's called, the digital radio station, they've had Radiohead choosing music and playlists and stuff, which I found interesting, but they also seem to play good music in general. This is quite a find for me, as not only is the music on Radio one mostly dreadful, but the presenters increasingly annoying, deeply unfunny, and sometimes just plain nasty (yes Moyles you fat fool, I'm talking about you).
The Christmas number one came as some surprise, I was expecting the Darkness to walk it. I'm glad Mad World got it though. Nothing against the Darkness, they're quite fun, but Mad World is a poignant, emotional tune, which was the Christmas number one needs. I know the Christmas number one is meant to be festive, but recently festive=cheesy rubbish. So nyah nyah, Darkness, up your pop Idols and Cliff Richard - HA! HA!
Well, I'm glad I got that off my chest, more music related musing to follow possibly. My access to t'internet will be limited at best over the Christmas period, so this is probably my last post of 2003, so have a very Happy Christmas one and all and see you in (Euro) 2004, European championships here we come, wahoo!!
