Phew, thank goodness for that...
The exit poll predictions briefly had me thinking that maybe the Tories would sneak a governable majority (yes, I know, I'm a big worry-pot...).
So, Labour returned to power with a significantly reduced majority and suitably chastised. Moderate Tory gains, and He-Of-The-Night is going to resign - yay! the Lib-Dems have made gains, perhaps not as might have been hoped, but progress nonetheless.
All in all pretty satisfactory, I'd say: Howard on his way, the sun is shining, it's nearly 5 o'clock (no really, the posted times are an hour out, I don't think my ISP have adjusted their server to GMT), all is well...

Labour "suitably chastised"? - or perhaps they will just work harder at 'getting the message across' next time. Will our political process just get degraded even further?
okay, maybe not chastised exactly, but they've had their majority slashed, which is less than aringing endorsement...
