Wave of mutilation - bikes and pixies

11 February 2004 - 2:44pm -- Joseph

Well it's been a bit of an up and down week so far. On Saturday I was up early (for me, for a weekend...) to play football, and also to see if I could get hold of some tickets for the Pixies' Brixton shows. I called repeatedly whilst on my way to footie (though not while driving, of course) but it was always engaged.

Our friendly match was then called off at the last minute by the council groundsmen. This was very annoying, we had to settle for a kick around, after which I tried again for Pixies tickets, but they had sold out.

Turns out none of my friends managed to get tickets either - not unexpected but disappointing nonetheless.

Then on Tuesday, to add injury to insult, I came off my bike on the way to work. A piece of a branch got stuck in my front mudguard, snapping the mudguard and sending me flying.

It felt at the time as though I went over the handlebars, but I ended up on the floor with the bike on top of me, so I'm not sure how that's possible...

Anyway, no serious harm done, though my elbow hurts, and I may need a new mudguard. And all this on my way to try and learn Java...

But all is not lost, I can take any physical abuse and mental torture that life decides to throw at me, because the Pixies added more dates!!

These had sold out by the time I got to work, but my less tardy mates managed to get tickets, so it looks like I'm going to see the Pixies!!

Hurray!!

I'm going to see the Pixies!!

I'm going to see the Pixies!!

Now that could sound rather odd out of context...
