'ave it!

26 May 2005 - 12:10pm -- Joseph

Well, what a cracking match! (If you're reading this from Mars, or years from now, Liverpool rallied themselves from 3-0 down at half-time againsy AC Milan in the Champions League final, scoring 3 cracking goals in a scintillating 10 minutes of football just after half time)

Back from hols...

23 May 2005 - 7:21pm -- Joseph

Holidays are great, I feel very refreshed. No doubt the daily grind will mug me again soon, but today was my first day back at work, I felt refreshed and focused on my work, and I got loads done. Sitting at a computer all day really is very bad for you, I felt much better after not doing so for a week.

We're just back from a week's holiday in the Netherlands. I spent the first weekend at a football tournament in Groningen, North East Netherlands. That was alot of fun, lots of playing and watching football, lots of beer and not much sleep.

Lottery tag is 'a lottery'

10 May 2005 - 12:17pm -- Joseph

All manner of private and government service providers were quaking in their boots yesterday, as it became clear that the Media's predeliction towards labelling things 'a lottery' (or even, heaven forbid, a 'postcode lottery') has turned into something of, well, a lottery.

It seems dull and obvious to point out that there is a certain variability and element of chance to most things in life. Some hack may have said.

and relax....

6 May 2005 - 3:59pm -- Joseph

Phew, thank goodness for that...

The exit poll predictions briefly had me thinking that maybe the Tories would sneak a governable majority (yes, I know, I'm a big worry-pot...).

So, Labour returned to power with a significantly reduced majority and suitably chastised. Moderate Tory gains, and He-Of-The-Night is going to resign - yay! the Lib-Dems have made gains, perhaps not as might have been hoped, but progress nonetheless.

05/05/05

5 May 2005 - 5:30pm -- Joseph

Cool date.
Also, election day!

I've just voted, which was quite exciting.

that said, this is probably the least exciting election I can recall, in some respects. I'm somewhat ambivelant about the current government, but still find a third term for Labour infinitely preferable to having a Tory government with Michael 'I sucka your blood, ah ha ha!'Howard at its head.

Top 100 things about top 100 shows

25 April 2005 - 4:58pm -- Joseph

I caught a little bit of the top 100 kids shows last night (wasn't that a repeat? A repeat of a list show, what tv coming to? What's that you say, celebrity wrestling? Oh yeah, right...)

Anyway, watching a few things occured to me:

Sesame Street is pure genius, Jim Henson is The Man.
David Brent is Roland rat.
These shows are addictive.
Because they're addictive, they shouldn't be allowed to go on past 10.30 on a school night.
There's usually a lot less than 50 interesting points to be made on a subject.
See point 5.

So if you'd like to be nice to me (and don't have pre-existing Amazon associate allegiances)if you follow the link to amazon on my link page, The amazon link is access key enabled, which means you can follow the link by pressing Alt+z if you're on PC, or Ctrl+z if you're on a Mac.

I've included the link here as well:

Dr. Who?

17 April 2005 - 3:32pm -- Joseph

I was never a particular fan of Dr. Who as a kid, probably because there wasn't enough action and the effects were rubbish (these thing matter to kids). Also it was too creepy (the Doctors as much as the baddies - Tom Baker was my first doctor.)

nonetheless, I was quite interested to see the new Dr. Who, to see what they'd do with it, and to See What Christopher Eccleston and Billie Piper (good old Swindon girl) got on.
