The Incredibles

22 November 2004 - 2:27pm -- Joseph

Went to see The Incredibles yesterday. Much like Shaun of the Dead earlier in the year, I went with fairly high expectations, which is sometimes a recipe for disaster (or at least disappointment), but wasn't let down.

porkers eat profits

5 November 2004 - 1:23pm -- Joseph

according to this story on BBC news, fat Americans are eating into airline profits. Apparently, carrying planes chock full of porkers is burning fuel like you wouldn't believe...

Now that's funny...

Obviously what they should do is start charging for tickets based on passenger weight. As a skinny short-arse, I would support such a move whole-heartedly...

More Bush? - Going to hell in a handcart

3 November 2004 - 4:34pm -- Joseph

well, monkey-boy's in charge for another four years then....

Of course, I use the term 'in charge' loosely, he's more of a performing monkey for Cheney and Rumsfeld, but nevertheless, he has been chosen by the American people to lead them further into the abyss.

I don't know what else there is to say really, I'm disappointed. Though many saw Kerry as an 'anyone but Bush' candidate, and are now questioning his nomination, I thought he seemed like a man of integrity and intelligence, which would cerainly have made for a change of pace in the Whitehouse.

Ah well.

Happy Bloggaversary!!

28 October 2004 - 12:52pm -- Joseph

This blog is one year old today!!

It wasn't called Joseph Bloggs then, and it wasn't really a proper blog (more a tentative attempt at a travel diary while we were away in Central America), but still...

I've managed to keep it up, perhaps not the most prolific or interesting of bloggs (perhaps? Who am I kidding...) There's about 50 entries here now, almost an average of one a week, which is about as much as one could expect from someone as idle and easily distracted as myself...

i-pod lust - part II

15 October 2004 - 9:27pm -- Joseph

Okay, after provaricating for an age over whether or not to get an i-pod, and several schemes to acquire an i-pod or mini i-pod on the cheap, I've finally found a cheap(ish) way of getting one, and I'm taking the plunge.
I won't bore you with the details, but sufficient to say the Apple stork is winging it's way over to me as we speak (and taking it's time about it, by the way). But my patience will be rewarded, and soon:

"Mr. Talbot, it's white and silver, 40 pounds, I mean gig, congratulations"

or alternatively,

"It's just an i-pod, you freak."

Happy second anniversary Heather!

5 October 2004 - 8:16am -- Joseph

It's our second Wedding anniversary today.

Doesn't time fly? I'm sure two years doesn't sound much to alot of people, and it's certainly seemed like no time at all for me, but it means we're really not newly-weds any more.

I'm just happy to be married to such a wonderful young lady. She's beautiful, caring, and most importantly (when married to me) always calm and forgiving in the face of my rants and flaps.

So thank you Heather for always being there, and just so you know, here's what you get if you stick with it:

French Chickens and car scrapes

4 October 2004 - 12:49pm -- Joseph

We spent a week in France a few weeks ago (I've been just too busy to write about it since I got back, honest...)

We flew to Nice and hired car to drive up into the Alps, where we'd booked a Gite on a farm. I'd never driven on the right, or driven a left-hand drive car before. It didn't take too long to get the hang of it, but by that time I'd scraped the passenger side door against a cliff wall (sorry Heather...)

This stressed me out in no small measure, but hey, stuff happens, and it turns out I'd got full excess cover for the car when I rented it (result...).
